venus
the oil painting
even crafted by
the most
exquisite hand
with a gilded frame
slightly tarnished

hangs on a
dim corner
wall for 20 years
unmoving
is no longer ever
again seen

all that really
matters now
is that someone
sees you
the real you

unadorned

both vibrant and
weathered
every crack
on the canvas
the colours
hard tears
fair smile lines
forged

to be appreciated
for how you are
and what you’ve done
what you have seen
what you feel

and you can be
yourself completely
as you are
the Greatest Gesture

and likewise see that
in someone
beauty in
our imperfection
fragility
in return
in their entirety

oh soft heart alive
holding in-between
two hands so careful
no thing
more precious

what substantive
Divinity
it would be
to be loved
just once

a true love
simple in it’s
familiarity
before

the
silence
